The Meaning Behind "Enabled to Love"

I'd like to start off by setting the tone for this blog:

This website is meant to benefit those who are looking to learn more information concerning how to manage a romantic relationship with someone who has a disability- or as the Internet likes to call it: an Interabled relationship. 

My Backstory:

When I began dating my current boyfriend; I searched everywhere online to find stories about dating someone with a condition. The concept of dating someone who did not have the same abilities as me was a bit abstract to me as this was my first time considering this. Details on romantic relationships with an abled person and a disabled person were relatively hard to find, though. While I read posts about the more challenging aspects of dating someone with a disability, no one mentioned what steps to take in order to overcome those challenges. It's good to be aware of how trouble might arise, but ultimately the actions you take and the attitude you have toward them are what makes or breaks your relationship. That's what I'd like to help provide: a more straightforward guide to Interabled partnerships.

Meaning Behind the Name:

"Enabled to Love" is titled as such to emphasize that being in an Interabled relationship can be successful when there's a strong enough effort to make it successful. It's also meant to help promote the idea that a disabled person is capable of holding romantic relationships. Often times those with a condition feel it might be impossible to find a partner. My blog wants to show you that it is indeed possible!

Traveling With My Partner That Has a Disability

As I've mentioned before, my relationship with my boyfriend is unique to me in the sense that I never truly had to consider aspects the disabled community faces. This blog post highlights another aspect that I hadn't thought about before- traveling.  I've noticed it's essential to plan ahead . Even if you're not traveling far, it's important to check out your destination for accessibility before hand. Although it might be obvious for the disabled partner, this might not be very obvious to the able bodied partner like me in my relationship. More specifically, let's say your destination indicates that there are, for example, elevators. I would call for information about whether these are working just in case they might be malfunctioning. Flat roads are something to consider as well. This is especially important for my boyfriend and I since he uses a wheelchair and we don't want to have trouble finding a path to go through.
